Classical Academy High School

Personalized Learning Campus

September 21st - 25th

Welcome to Week 5 at Classical Academy High School!

Accountability plans are being emailed to students and their parent today. Remember, this is one of our safety nets of students not falling behind. A student will receive an Accountability plan if they are not setting goals, falling behind in power focus areas, or behind in project checkpoints. We are here to partner with you and help students stay on top of their academic progress. Our teachers and the entire team is here to help guide and support students. Synchronous classes provided another layer of direct instruction, while the Summit Platform has numerous resources, for each objective, in the students playlist. Teachers are available Tuesday-Friday until noon, except when they are teaching a live class, to help with student notes, power focus areas, and content assessments. If your student receives an Accountability plan, they will have the next two weeks to get caught up. The next big deadline is October 2, 2020 and the end of the first quarter is October 23, 2020. Please let us know how we can help you!

Content Assessment Update

Summit has updated the platform to allow for easier access to taking Content Assessments during this time of distance learning. There is now a longer window for a teacher to approve an assessment before the student must begin, so no more timing out of approved requests!

We are still asking for your parent partnership to help maintain academic integrity by acting as the parent proctor at home, but you now have 8 hours in which to begin the assessment.

 Students will need to:

1. Complete the diagnostic in the Focus Area

2. Take notes from at least three resources on the Focus Area playlist

3. Create a goal in Summit for that Focus Area

4. Request the Focus Area Content Assessment in Summit

5. Send the course teacher a copy of the student-generated notes, signed by the parent proctor to indicate and acknowledge that the student is requesting an assessment.

6. When it's ready, the student will only be able to take one assessment at a time, using the Assessment Mode Lockdown Browser. The student will have 8 hours to begin once it's approved and then 90 minutes to finish the 10 question assessment once it's begun.

Teachers will:

1. Reply back to the student if the request is approved for first or second attempts.

2. Have the student meet with the subject teacher for third or subsequent attempts in order to address gaps or misunderstandings in content.

To use the afternoon service WITH A PARENT PROCTOR: Available Tues-Thur 2-3pm

The parent sends an email request to proctor@classicalacademy.com containing: Student name/grade level/name of assessment and attaches a copy of student-generated notes with parent signature/time/date. The student sets a goal in Summit and requests the Content Assessment in Summit. The proctor will reply back to the email when the assessment is ready. They have 90 minutes to finish the 10 question assessment once they have begun. They may only take one assessment at a time.

We are confident that these modifications will help our students be even more successful during distance learning. Thank you for your continued partnership and support!

Dr. Stacey Perez

Document which contains all of our Support Team's specific roles and email addresses.  We want all students and parents to feel free to email anyone on our team with any questions that you have.
