Classical Academy Online - News

October 15th-19th

Dear Classical Academy Online Families:

Thank you to everyone who contributed, helped, and attended our first homecoming dance! It was an amazing event and everyone had a great time. Congratulations to the homecoming court nominees and finalists.

This week is a big deadline week. That means that students should be all caught up, in their academics, by Friday. All focus areas, content assessments, and project checkpoints should be up to date with the progress line. If you need help, in any area, please reach out to your teacher, cohort, academic coach, or any lab supervisor. We are all here to help! If you are behind, in any area, accountability plans will be written to help you get caught up.

Please note that Cohort Conferences are October 25, & 26th. In addition, Tuesday, October 30 is a home day, as the entire CAO team will be in Phoenix for Summit Learning Fall Convening. Please plan ahead and accordingly for taking content assessments. Lab supervisors will open content assessments during conferences, but not on October 30. Remember, you can move forward in other focus areas and project checkpoints, while waiting to take content assessments. We will be opening content assessments on both conference days to help with the scheduling. Thank you for being flexible, organized and understanding!

See you on campus this week!

Dr. Stacey Perez

Youth Orchestra

If you would like to learn to play the violin or cello or you already play either of those instruments, you can join San Marcos Youth Strings and perform with them around North County. I established this community service group last Fall to provide a free musical experience for kids 5-19 years of age. High school kids gain community service hours for their time instructing the lesser experienced players. Symphony players from Civic Youth Orchestra hold our three top leadership positions. My mother oversees everything as the parent supervisor and other parents are welcome to stay at rehearsals if they wish but it’s not required. We will place you in one of four groups: Primary, Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. Gateway Community Church in San Marcos generously lets us use their facility for rehearsals every Friday from 4-6:00 pm. We have performances booked for the CCAE Winter Wonderland Festival, Brookdale Senior Residence and Silvergate Senior Residence in December. Come join the fun learning a strings instrument with other kids and spreading joy throughout the community! Contact smysca@gmail.com for more information. Thanks! Andre Ricardo, SMYS President, class of 2020 CAO. Check us out on Facebook: @smysca and Instagram: @smysca

Academic Coaches Corner

Attention Seniors!

The time is almost here to send you off into the real world and we want to help prepare you as much as we can. If you haven’t already done so, you will want to start working on those college applications because early decision deadlines are coming up soon!

Have you signed into Naviance yet? Make sure you upload all of the colleges that you are applying to ASAP. If you are having trouble with your login or not sure on what Naviance is yet, please stop by and see Ms. Williams.

Transcript Requests

Seniors requesting transcripts for college - please make sure you request all transcripts through Naviance or through the Common Application. Please note: Naviance is NOT linking to the Common Application this year.

Tip of the Week:

Printing unofficial transcripts has never been easier! You can do so by logging into your Pathways and on the left side of the screen click on the “Reporting” link. It will take you to the Reporting page where you will then click on the top tab that says “Transcripts”. That tab will turn green and you will click the “Print Unofficial Transcripts” button under the greyed out tabs and BOOM! You have your unofficial transcript!
