Classical Academy High School

Personalized Learning Campus

August 31st - September 4th

Congratulations on an amazing first full week of school!

From synchronous classes, logging into the platforms, parent boot camps, and technology updates, 99% of our students have logged in and started working on courses. In our Friday office hours, we had over 250 students log into Zoom and experience breakout rooms to take content assessments, work directly with teachers, and get additional support. It really was a highlight to get to see students and watch them in action.

Please remember that Monday's are a time of self direction, including setting goals for the week, preparing for mentoring, and working on notes and checkpoints. We find that students who use this time to prepare are much more successful during their time with teachers and completing projects.

I have not scheduled a coffee chat this week, but the Schoology poll clearly indicated that Monday afternoons will be the best time for a coffee chat. When I went to schedule it for the following week, I saw that Monday, September 7, is Labor Day! The joys of scheduling. So, I am going to squeeze in an afternoon coffee chat this upcoming Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. Please check the Schoology calendar for this link. Coffee chats are aimed at supporting parents, chatting with other parents, and asking questions.

I hope this first week of school was a good indication of the level of support and customer service that we aim to provide. Students are our first priority and we will continue to work towards setting the bar high, while personalizing for each individual student. If a student needs to add/change/drop classes, this upcoming Friday, September 4, 2020 is the absolute final day without a penalty. Classes dropped after that date will be subject a Withdrawal Fail (WF) on their transcript.

This week, we will focus on positivity on purpose and our first virtual spirit week of the school year! What can we do to help you have a great week? Our entire team is here to support you and help be your guide by your side.

Thank you for partnering with us!

Dr. Stacey Perez

PSAT Update

The College Board made a BIG announcement yesterday that will positively impact all of us as we plan for PSAT administration.

There is now an alternative date that the test can be given. This was designed for schools that are either closed for the fall or who are unsure if they will have all of their students and teacher proctors back on campus for the original October test date.

The new date the test will now be offered is Tuesday, January 26th.

Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) will be offered in January 2021. As many schools adopt remote learning this fall, we're expanding our testing opportunities across fall and winter for this school year. To provide the most opportunity for the greatest number of students:

We’re offering another administration on January 26, 2021.

The January administration will have the same benefits as the October PSAT/NMSQT, including eligibility for programs administered by National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Who Do I Ask?

We know that clear communication is going to be crucial during this time, so we wanted to make sure you know where to go if you have a question.  We put together a "Who Do I Ask?" Document which contains all of our Support Team's specific roles and email addresses.  We want all students and parents to feel free to email anyone on our team with any questions that you have.
