Classical Academy Online - News
May 6th - 10th
Dear CAO Families,
This week we celebrate our entire tribe with Teacher Appreciation Week! The best gift you could give a teacher is a handwritten thank you letter, positive feedback, and your own thoughtfulness. Our teachers work much more than the regular school hours and days. Let's all go out of our way to show them how much we care. Miss. Lindsey Williams has ideas and celebrations throughout the week. Feel free to reach out to her if you would like to help out.
Advanced placement (AP) testing also begins this week. Congratulations to more than 100 of our CAO students who will be taking the test and earning college credit through these intensive classes. If you are interested in taking any AP classes, for the 2019-20 school year, please contact Ms. Tayler Williams or Mrs. Mary Tanner, to make sure you are signed up.
We are currently working with Palomar College to articulate at least four of our current high school courses for college credit. In a nutshell, once our courses are approved, you can take the classes at CAO, earn an A or a B, and have the class credit placed on a Palomar transcript! Imagine earning a total of 18 college credits before graduating from high school. Stay tuned, as we continue to work on this partnership to make great things happen for our students. These classes will be announced in August, at Gear Up Day.
So many great things happening! May includes AP testing, state testing, MAP assessments, prom, and our Academic Showcase and Expo. Our goal is to help each and every student finish the year strong. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your teachers, cohort, and all of our team. We are here to help!
Thank you to everyone for your amazing partnership.
Dr. Stacey Perez

Earn Community Service Hours working at a Feeding San Diego Distribution Site
Every Sunday, Feeding San Diego at St. Bart’s Church in Poway is open to serve anyone who needs food. Groceries are donated from Sprout’s and Target and redistributed to anyone in need. Volunteer shifts are from 1:30-3:00 and the work involves sorting food, setting up, distributing items and cleaning up. Sign-up just once or every once in a while. We’d love to have you work with us.
If you have questions please email Lisa Marie Oakes at feedingpeople@stbartschurch.org
To sign up for a volunteer shift:
We have 3 school matinees at the Center Theatre of CCAE - all of which still have good availability at this point. They are all at 10 am on May 22, 23, and 24. Tickets are $3 for students and teachers/parents/chaperones, and may be reserved through our school's front office. The office manager is Mireya Barajas mbarajas@eusd.org or 760-432-2452. The show is probably most appropriate for grades 5 and up, and should run approximately 2 hours with intermission.
Parent Volunteer Opportunities!
