Classical Academy Online - News

October 22nd-26th

Dear Classical Academy Online Families:

The big deadline was Friday, October 19, 2018, which now has passed. All students should have uploaded work samples into their work sample folder and shared with their cohort/mentor teacher. Students who are four or more focus areas, including projects and checkpoints, behind in their progress will receive an accountability plan at their cohort conference.

What is an accountability plan? An Accountability Plan is an agreement and personalized learning plan that can help each student catch up within the next three weeks. This plan will be agreed upon and signed by each student, parent, and cohort teacher. This is your opportunity to create and suggest the best learning plan for the first semester of success!

The data and feedback of Summit Learning has been amazing! The CAO team will be headed to Phoenix, Arizona, next weekend to meet and have additional training with the Summit Learning mentors. We are excited to continue to learn and provide additional feedback and insight on the Summit Learning approach to education.

Cohort Conferences are October 25, & 26th. In addition, Tuesday, October 30 is a home day, as the entire CAO team will be in Phoenix for Summit Learning Fall Convening. Please plan ahead and accordingly for taking content assessments. Lab supervisors will open content assessments during conferences, but not on October 30. Remember, you can move forward in other focus areas and project checkpoints, while waiting to take content assessments. We will be opening content assessments on both conference days to help with the scheduling.

Thank you for being flexible, organized and understanding!

See you on campus this week!

Dr. Stacey Perez

Youth Orchestra

If you would like to learn to play the violin or cello or you already play either of those instruments, you can join San Marcos Youth Strings and perform with them around North County. I established this community service group last Fall to provide a free musical experience for kids 5-19 years of age. High school kids gain community service hours for their time instructing the lesser experienced players. Symphony players from Civic Youth Orchestra hold our three top leadership positions. My mother oversees everything as the parent supervisor and other parents are welcome to stay at rehearsals if they wish but it’s not required. We will place you in one of four groups: Primary, Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. Gateway Community Church in San Marcos generously lets us use their facility for rehearsals every Friday from 4-6:00 pm. We have performances booked for the CCAE Winter Wonderland Festival, Brookdale Senior Residence and Silvergate Senior Residence in December. Come join the fun learning a strings instrument with other kids and spreading joy throughout the community! Contact smysca@gmail.com for more information. Thanks!
