Dear Classical Academy Family,

We hope this Monday update finds you rested and ready to work hard in this upcoming week! As we enter Week 6, please be reminded that this is a Big Deadline week. Students should be setting goals, attending synchronous Zoom classes, and reaching out to teachers when needing additional support. Although we operate on a semester schedule, the end of the first quarter is only four weeks away. If you received an accountability plan, please make sure you are following the supports to get caught up. 

Senior Night was featured live on You Tube and moderated by Ms. Lindsey. Please see Schoology if you missed the senior event and would like to view the recorded event. We are looking forward to many more virtual and hopefully, in person, activities soon! 

We are excited to announce our Targeted/Small Group Learning Phase plan on October 2, 2020. Although Distance Learning will remain in place, we are currently reviewing the team and parent feedback to create some options for choice, that will be sustainable, and support student success. I will be holding a Coffee Chat tonight, Monday, September 28, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. The link is posted below. This event will not be recorded, but is open for all parents to attend, via Zoom. Our agenda will include discussing challenges and opportunities, as well as a timeline of events for students moving into our next phase of reopening. 

Thank you to each and every person who is supporting our students, teachers, parents, and those people in our community. Together, we are stronger and can make a difference in supporting each other during challenging times.

Scholarship Opportunity

One of our own wonderful teachers, Mrs. Vicki Mazur has established the endowed Herbert A. Odle STEM $1,000 Scholarship, a tribute to her Father, to be awarded to one graduating student annually!

AP Exam Information

IMPORTANT: AP EXAM REGISTRATION OPENED THIS WEEK. PLEASE SIGN UP ON COLLEGE BOARD AND PAY ON TOTAL REGISTRATION  BY OCTOBER 2ND TO AVOID ANY COLLEGE BOARD LATE FEES

If you are currently in an AP course, all AP teachers have been sharing their AP classroom Join Codes for each of your individual AP classes. Signing up to take an AP spring exam is a simple 2 STEP PROCESS. Students will register on their College Board account by joining their AP classroom AND by paying for the exam on Total Registration. Please see the link below with step-by-step instructions and the link to pay on Total Registration.

Please sign up by October 2nd to avoid any late fees. The first deadline that will incur a late fee will be October 2nd. This fee is $20. The high school order for all AP Classes will be FINALIZED on November 11th. Any late registrations allowed, will result in a $40 late fee. 

IMPORTANT COUNSELING PSAT UPDATE

FYI - The sign up link for the PSAT will be posted within the next couple of weeks if you have not signed up already

Attention 11th graders: If you are currently in 11th grade and signed up at Gear Up for the PSAT then please note that The College Board has scheduled a new testing date.

 The PSAT has been moved from October to Tuesday, January 26th. Please mark your calendars. More information and details to follow.

Reminder of Content Assessment Policies and Procedures

Afternoon proctor email is only monitored Tues-Thurs 2-3pm.

To use the afternoon service WITH A PARENT PROCTOR:

The parent sends an email request to proctor@classicalacademy.com containing: Student name/grade level/name of assessment and attaches a copy of student-generated notes with parent signature/time/date. The student sets a goal in Summit and requests the Content Assessment in Summit. I will reply back to the email when the assessment is ready and the student has 10 minutes to begin the assessment before the request times out. They have 90 minutes to finish the 10 question assessment. 

To use the afternoon service as a student:

The student sends an email request to proctor@classicalacademy.com containing: Student name/grade level/name of assessment and attaches a copy of student-generated notes. I will reply back with a link to a Zoom Room and then open the assessment. The students will mute their mics and be live on camera while they take their assessment. I am available to troubleshoot technical difficulties.

Who Do I Ask?

We know that clear communication is going to be crucial during this time, so we wanted to make sure you know where to go if you have a question.  We put together a "Who Do I Ask?" Document which contains all of our Support Team's specific roles and email addresses.  We want all students and parents to feel free to email anyone on our team with any questions that you have.
