Materials
Small pieces of paper
Pen or pencil (1 per participant)
Container
Bell/Timer (optional)
Recommended Group Size
N/A
Estimated Time
1 week - 1 month
Purpose
To foster a closer relationship with those around you and show love to one another
Objective
To be a secret angel and perform acts of kindness
Procedure
All the participants write their name on a piece of paper and fold it in half.
Everyone places their piece of paper in a container.
A facilitator shuffles the names, making sure they are mixed well.
Each participant chooses a piece of paper from the container. If a participant picks him/herself, then the participant must replace the piece of paper with another one.
Each participant is now the secret angel of the participant whose name is on the piece of paper they have chosen.
The secret angel shows acts of kindness, gives gifts, gives encouragements, offers company, etc., over an allotted period of time.
The facilitator/coordinator/counselor/teacher decides how long the period of time will last.
At the end of the allotted time, the secret angels will reveal themselves after the participants have tried guessing who their secret angels were.
Participants should recall their encounters with one another during that period of time, and if possible, share their most memorable moment.
This activity can be repeated with different participants for as long as time allows.
Variations
You can include teachers, counselors, etc.
You can conclude with the Candlelight Prayer activity
Notes
The allotted period of time should be at least a week long (e.g., this activity can be done during various seminars).
If done during the school year, the optimal time frame is one or more months.
