ABCs

Procedure

1. Have the participants stand in a circle.

2. The facilitator starts the activity by saying, “[His/Her own name] likes [Bible character whose name starts with A]” and play proceeds clockwise. Example: Jackson likes Abraham.

3. The next participant continues by saying, “[His/Her own name] likes [Bible character whose name starts with B].” Example: Ryan likes Barnabas.

4. Continue alphabetically until all the letters have been used, skipping Q, W, X, and Y.

5. Each participant has 3 seconds to think before saying the sentence.

6. If a participant cannot think of a character in time, he/she sits down and the next participant takes over, using the same letter.

7. The last participant(s) standing is/are the winner(s).

Variations

Group Size: 3 - 6 persons

Estimated Time: 5+ minutes

Procedure:

1. The facilitator starts the game and chooses a letter in the alphabet, excluding Q, W, X, and Y.

2. Follow steps 2 - 3 in original procedure but use only one letter per round. No Bible character can be repeated throughout the entire activity. Example: Jackson likes Abraham. Ryan likes Asa.

3. Each participant has 3 seconds to think before saying the sentence.

4. If a participant cannot think of a character in time, he/she sits down and the next participant takes over, using the same letter.

5. One round ends when everyone has gone once or been eliminated.

6. At the end of each round, the participants may have 30 seconds to rearrange themselves before starting the next round, so that the order they take their turn is different.

7. The first individual in the new order to take his/her turn will choose another letter for the new round. This letter can be one that has been used before. Once again, no Bible character names said before can be repeated.

8. The activity can last however many rounds that the facilitator decides. The last participant(s) standing is/are the winner(s).
