Purpose
To learn something new about another person
Objective
To have the largest team
Materials
Line markers
Preparations
Find an empty field.
Mark 1 line in the center of the field.
Mark 2 more lines at the opposite ends of the field, parallel to the centerline. Leave space beyond these 2 lines so that those running at full speed have room to stop.
Procedure
Divide the participants into 2 teams.
Direct each team to the lines at the opposite ends of the field, explaining to them that the line is their “home line.”
Give each team 30 seconds to huddle together and decide which hand signal to throw. (Quick refresher: Rock > Scissors, Scissors > Paper, Paper > Rock)
Call both teams to gather at the centerline, with members from one team facing members of the other team.
Together, and with gusto, all chant: "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" On "shoot," participants quickly throw their pre-chosen selection.
Members of the losing team must run as quickly as possible to the safety of their home line, trying to avoid being tagged by the winning team on the way back. Any participant who gets tagged must defect to the other team.
If both teams throw the same hand signal, all participants must quickly sit down. The last one to hit the ground defects to the other team.
Any participant who switches teams must answer a sharing question or recite a verse chosen by the facilitator.
Direct both teams to return to their home lines and repeat steps 3 - 5.
Continue as time allows.
Variation
The participants do not have to use the standard rock, paper, scissors. They could use a variation like: David, Goliath, and Bathsheba. David beats Goliath; Goliath beats Bathsheba; Bathsheba beats David.
