Recommended Group Size
30+ persons
Estimated Time
25+ minutes
Purpose
To get to know and share with one another
Objective
To get into groups of the appropriate number
Procedure
Have participants stand in an open area.
The facilitator asks a question. 1
Participants must get into groups of the appropriate number to answer the question. For example, participants must get into groups of 6 to answer, “How many days did God use to create the world?”
Any participants who cannot get into a group will join the facilitator.
Facilitator announces a sharing question for the groups to share for a designated time.
Refer to the Spiritual Sharing Questions Page for sharing questions or make your own.
Ring the bell to indicate the end of sharing time.
Repeat steps 2 - 5 as time allows, varying the group numbers from round to round.
Variation - Icebreaker
The purpose of this activity is to get to know one another.
Follow the same procedure above, but change step 5. After the participants form the group, instead of having them answer a sharing question, ask them to introduce themselves (optional: and shake hands with one another).
In addition to the questions used for the sharing version of this activity, the facilitator may use questions that have greater numbers as the answers.
Notes
1 The regrouping questions are in the "Regroup Questions" document.
