The What Game

Procedure

1. Divide the participants into teams of 5 - 8 persons.

2. Have the teams line up with five feet apart between teams.

3. All the team members face the same direction while standing in a single line.

4. Announce a verse to the teams. Give them a little time to memorize the verse, including the verse reference. Try to use verses from classes or important verses relevant to the theme of the fellowship.

5. The first team member turns around to the second team member and recites the verse. The second team member throws up his/her hands and asks, “What?” The first team member repeats the verse. The second team member turns around to the third team member and recites the verse. The third team member throws up his/her hands and asks, “What?” The second team member turns around to the first team member and asks, “What?” The first team member recites the verse to the second team member. The second team member recites the verse to the third team member. The third team member recites the verse to the fourth team member.

6. The recitations continue in this way, always going back to the first team member, until the last team member recites the verse and it goes back to the first team member.

7. When the first team member recites the verse after the entire team has recited it, the whole group sits down.

8. As each team finishes, team members shares among themselves how they can put the verse into practice.

9. Wait until all teams have finished and have sat down.

10. Repeat the procedure with another verse.

Discussion Questions

After the activity, facilitator leads the discussion:

• Choose one verse from the activity that you’d like to share about.

• How can these verses help us in our daily life?

• What can we learn about God from these verses?

Notes

• The facilitator may choose to do a sample run with "Jesus wept". 

• The facilitator can choose to start with easy verses and move to difficult verses, or vary the difficulty.

• You may watch the demonstration video for this activity as a reference.

• To make this a sharing game, allow time for discussion questions at the end. The facilitator may choose to use the provided discussion questions or create their own.
