Estimated Time

Purpose
To learn something from a character in the Bible
Objective
To correctly guess to whom the Bible verse is referring
To think about what one can learn from the character
Materials
1 small, individual whiteboard per team
1 dry erase marker per team
1 erasing tool per team
Verses referring to characters
Bell/timer
Procedure
Divide participants into teams of 2 - 5 persons. Provide each team with a student whiteboard, dry erase marker, and erasing tool.
The facilitator reads a Bible verse, without the reference, and starts the timer. After each verse, the facilitator must add, “Who is this?”
Participants have 1 minute to discuss who the verse is about and write down the character’s name. The participant whose birthday is closest to today’s date, but has not yet passed, will be the scribe for the first round. The participant whose birthday is second closest will be the scribe for the second round, and so forth.
After the time is up, the facilitator indicates that time is up by ringing a bell or calling for everyone’s attention.
All the teams present their whiteboards, and the facilitator announces the answer and the reference verse, asking participants to turn to the verse.
Give the participants a few minutes to read the verse, and share with their team one thing they can learn from that character based on the Bible verse. Sharing can be 5 - 10 minutes.
The facilitator will ring the bell to end the sharing, and continue with the next verse.
Repeat steps 2 - 7 as time allows.
