Materials
M&M's or any other multicolored candy
Bowl
Napkins
Bell/Timer (optional)
Procedure
Pour M&M's or any other multicolored candy into a bowl.
Have everyone in the group grab as much or as little as they like from the bowl.
Have the group sit in a circle. 1
Pass out napkins and ask participants to sort their candies by color.
For each piece of M&M candy participants have taken, they will have to answer a specific question, depending on its color. For example:
Red candy: a favorite hobby
Green candy: a memory at church
Yellow candy: a goal, past or future; how you accomplished/plan to accomplish it
Orange candy: a favorite hymn and why
Brown candy: favorite food
Blue candy: favorite Bible story and why
Participants can eat their candy, if desired.
Discussion Questions
After the activity, facilitator leads the discussion:
Share an interesting fact about the person sitting to your right.
Variations
Toilet Paper Edition 2
Get a roll of toilet paper.
Have people tear off any amount of toilet paper.
The number of squares the participant tore off represents the number of facts they need to share about themselves. (For example, the person who tore off 5 squares must share 5 facts.
Notes
Make sure that no one eats their candy right away.
1 Depending on group size, you can break into groups of 5 to have time for everyone to share.
2 Only use this variation if you don't have access to multicolored candies.
