Recommended Group Size
15+ persons
Estimated Time
30 minutes
Purpose
To get to know others while exercising
Objective
To run to the line of their preferred answer before time runs out
Procedure
Using chalk, mark two parallel lines about 20 feet away from each other. Mark one line in the center, equidistant from the other two lines. There should be a total of three parallel lines.
Have participants line up single file along the center line.
The facilitator asks an icebreaker question that has 2 choices. “Which season do you prefer more: summer or winter?” The questions asked should be ones that will allow participants to learn more about one another.
The facilitator decides which line represents which answer. “The line to my left is Summer. The line to my right is winter.”
The facilitator indicates how participants must travel to the line. Examples include running, skipping, hopping, lunging, waddling, etc.
The facilitator then rings a bell or shouts loudly to signal for the participants to move. Participants are not allowed to move before the signal. At the signal, participants must make a choice and move to either line within 5 seconds. The facilitator should count down to let participants know how much time they have left.
The last participant to reach either line, or the participant(s) that does/do not move at all, must complete a punishment (to be decided by facilitator).
Once the punishment has been completed, all participants walk back to the center line, and the facilitator continues with another question.
Variations
The two lines can represent true and false, and Biblical questions can be used.
