Purpose
To find common things between you and those around you

To high five those who share something in common with you
Materials
None
Procedure
Have participants stands in a circle, facing the center. The facilitator also stands in the circle.
The facilitator reads a statement.
All participants to whom the statement applies run into the middle of the circle to high five one another. If there is only one participant in the center, he/she will take a bow or do a curtsy while everyone claps.
The participants in the middle return to their places and the facilitator reads another statement.
If a statement applies to a participant, but the participant does not run to the center, he/she receives a penalty. The facilitator decides the penalty.
Continue as time allows.
Suggested Statements
Your favorite color is [color].
Your favorite season is [season].
You go to [church name] church.
You’ve been to more than 3 countries.
You have a pet: dog/cat/rabbit/etc.
You’re currently: in high school/in college/working.
You’re wearing: a watch/glasses/etc.
You have [number] sibling(s).
You can speak [number] languages.
You know how to [activities: bike, rollerblade, drive a truck, write software, etc.]
You absolutely dislike [things: mushrooms, public toilets, etc.]
You fear [things: reptiles, darkness, etc.]
You are/are not [virtues: punctual, frugal, a planner, a procrastinator, etc.]
You enjoy [activities: sleeping, board games, etc.]
Try to think of statements that will apply to a large number of people.
Variations
The facilitator can choose to have participants do another action instead of high fiving. For example, the participants can go to the middle, say, “Hallelujah!” and shake each other’s hands.
