2 Structuring Moodle

Some general tips for structuring/designing your course page:

  • Use the section titles for clear sign-posting. (You don't have to stick with the default!)

  • Don't use sections headers for course content - this can result in a lot of scrolling.

  • Use labels for guidance.

  • Keep activity and resources titles short and clear.

  • Add descriptions in the description box.

  • Only make descriptions visible on the course page if necessary.

  • Use images to enhance the course page - they should relate to the content!

  • Simplify and categorize as much as possible:

    • Put files which are part of the same topic into a folder

    • Put links to external resources as hyperlinks onto a Moodle page. You might also consider to add them to an HTML block (see 'Customising Moodle').

    • Think about activating the 'completion tracking'.

    • Add/delete blocks are required for the course.
