Choices

Using ‘Choices’ in Moodle as ‘sign-up sheet’

It allows students to sign up to groups. For a simple sign up procedure you can use ‘Choices’ under ‘Activities’. Once the students have signed up to a group you have to set up this group manually, and then release activities to these manually set up groups. See 'Moodle Group Manager' for further help.

Important settings:

Limits: Enabling this option allows you to limit the number of participants who can select each particular choice.

For example: you want to create 4 groups with 5 students each. You set up the options,

Group 1

Limit - 5

Group 2

Limit - 5

Group 3

Limit - 5

Group 4

Limit - 5

Under ‘Miscellaneous’, check the settings for ‘Publish results’ and ‘Privacy of results’. You have to adjust them depending on the purpose of the choices on offer.

Depending on the purpose of your choices activity also please check the 'group' settings.

You can also use the Group Choice activity, which requires you to first set up the groups in Group Manager.
