Access Restrictions

One of the settings for an activity in Moodle is 'Access Restrictions'. If you click on the button for 'Access Restriction', you will see the following options:

While most options are straight forward, it becomes more complex when it is necessary to set restrictions for example for different groups of students on different days. In this case, the 'Restriction set' option can be used to combine conditions with 'and', and to add different sets of these combinations, combined with 'or'. Here is an example:

The 'Restrict access' settings for the example above look like this:

If you combine with 'and' or with 'or' depends on the 'match' setting at the top:

'must match all': combines conditions with 'and', i.e all apply.

'must match any': combines conditions with 'or', i.e. one or the other(s) apply.
