Setting up your profile

Your digital identity - setting up your profile in Moodle

To edit your profile and other preferences...

    • Click on your name at the top right and choose "Preferences" and select "Edit profile"

    • When you have finished making changes, click on "Update profile" at the bottom of the page to finish and save.

Your profile contains information about you that other users can see by clicking on your name. Profile information can include the description of yourself (if you have entered one) your name, location, email address (if you chose to make it accessible) and the list of courses you are enrolled in and a picture. You can edit your profile by clicking your name and using the 'edit' tab, or click on "Edit Profile" in the course administration block. Boxes marked in 'red' are the most important ones:

    • First name

    • Surname

    • Email address

    • City/to

    • Select a country

Description - Here you add everything you want other course members to know about you

User Picture - This is voluntary, of course. You can upload an image of yourself or whatever you would like to represent you. The file format needs to be png or jpg (this is what most cameras provide you with). Make sure it's not bigger than the file size allowed for upload. The image file will be cropped to a square and resized down to 100x100 pixels.

Changing the editor in Moodle

In Moodle 3.0 (version since July 2016) the default editor is ATTO HTML editor. If you prefer a different editor, for example TinyMCE HTML editor, which makes table editing a bit more flexible, you can do this by clicking on "Editor preferences" from "Preferences":

Viewing profiles of fellow course members in Moodle

    1. Go to the course.

    2. Select Participants under that course from Navigation.

    3. Select the name to view his/her profile.
