Short summary of "what and what not" to do with journal articles in Moodle

Generally speaking: no uploading of pdf files of articles. What you should do is give a precise reference once you've checked the article is available via Brookes Unversity Electronic Library. You can link to articles (either directly or by using an Aspire reading list).

If it's a link to an article on a public website, you can put in a direct link via 'Add a resource' - 'URL', and choose the option 'open in new browser window' in the settings for the item.

There are some exceptions to collections in our library where you can upload pdf files to Moodle:

  • The Cambridge journals digital archive

  • The Sage Premier Collection,

  • Science full text select,

  • The ScienceDirect Freedom Collection.

Each item uploaded to (or linked to in) Moodle should carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title, author, publisher and copyright owner.
