DIESEL MECHANIC APPRENTICE
Job Description:
Observe and learn about basic electrical – repair and replace starters/alternators/batteries.
Observe and learn about tires – tread, inflation, rotation, wear, and recondition wheels.
Learn and assist in performing proper Preventive Maintenance - lube, filters, inspection – includes truck appearance, interior and exterior, cab related, safety, and security.
Communicate with internal customers (i.e., other shop associates, drivers, other maintenance shops, etc.) on stances, wait times, reasons for repair decisions, and status updates.
Understand Shop security and alarm systems.
Familiarize oneself American with Trucking Association (ATA) system and other published and internet-based manuals and check sheets.
Observe and learn Direct/Indirect labor accountability (completing personal paperwork).
Assist in parts inventory management.
Follow workplace and vehicle safety procedures consistently.
Follow MSDS training and guidelines.
Follow good housekeeping standards.

Must be able to lift 45 Lbs. without restriction
Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions
Must be able to work with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction
Must be able to stand or lie for extended periods to repair equipment.
Must be able to have flexible movement to reach equipment and/or parts
Must be 17 years of age.

Hours:
Flexible. Must be able to work within regular business hours.
Mon. - Fri. 6:30 AM - 11 PM
