Position Overview:

Provides transport services between various nursing departments in the medical center in a safe, efficient customer service oriented manner. Assures that transports are done in accordance with both the department and hospital policies and procedures, with the priority of providing support for a safe environment. Transport duties include but are not limited to patients, equipment, and supplies. Provides assistance with patient transfers, as part of the patient care team. Under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse, performs nursing care activities, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for the patient requiring clinical observation.


Responsibilities:

1. Provides a variety of duties relating to the transport and care of patients, ensuring patient comfort and safety while enhancing delivery of care.

2. Provides support to the healthcare team through timeliness, accuracy and prompt response to requests for transport of patients to and from the various nursing units. Assists healthcare team to safely transfer patient to Holding Room and prepare patient for OR in a timely manner.

3. Comforts patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrating caring and cultural sensitivity.

4. Transports laboratory specimens by picking-up specimens and delivering them to specified laboratories. 

5. Transports deceased patients by following protocols and delivering them to the mortuary.

5.     Submit Your Application: Hand in your completed application, cover letter, and resume to your Career Coach. Your Career Coach will submit your completed application to Siona Escoto, Apprenticeship Coordinator at EscotSio@wcps.k12.md.us with the team email, Apprenticeship@wcps.k12.md.us cc’d.
