Position Overview:
Working from CAD generated data packages, the Apprentice will learn to create CNC code that will be used to operate the CNC mill or lathe. The Apprentice will learn the complete manufacturing process to include inspection of raw material, machining, plating/painting, finished goods inspection and packaging.
· Helps to develop a manufacturing plan which includes reviewing drawings and scheduling manufacturing equipment.
· Machines parts according to the dimensional and/or surface finish requirements specified by the engineered drawing.
· After machining, inspects parts to confirm conformance to drawing dimensional and surf finish requirements.
· Perform various shop duties as needed (washing parts, sweeping etc.)
Previous experience/prerequisites:
Although we do not have any firm prerequisites for this position, the best candidates will have strong math skills and some comfort working around powered hand tools.
Preferred Skills/Strengths:
· Ability to read measurement equipment (calipers, gauges, micrometer)
· Ability to use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, grinders, etc.)
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
· Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and other documents necessary to perform the job. (DVF will provide training as required)
· Physical ability to perform various shop related tasks, including prolonged periods of standing and ability to lift as much as 40 pounds.
· Positive attitude, willingness to adapt to different tasks and enthusiastic about learning.
