DISCUSSION
Do you have goals that you like to achieve? Are you doing something to attain your goals? What do you do to achieve your goals? Do you stay focused in achieving your goals? Are you just waiting for luck to come? Do you always rely on God, the only giver of hope? Here are some students who will serve as inspiration to all. They did not
lose hope because they believe there is a God who always guides us, a God who never sleeps, and a God who knows all our problems.
Read their stories to understand.
Fernie Magalona and Erick Flores graduated with honors from Mindanao State University.
Fernie graduated Magna Cum Laude. He is a son of a farmer. The father said that even if they are poor he never stopped helping him until he finished his course in Civil Engineering. Unfortunately the father had a stroke. Fernie however did not stop from pursuing his dream. He worked hard to reach his goal.
Erick graduated Magna Cum Laude with the degree of Civil Engineering. He is a son of a jeepney driver. Like Fernie, he never stopped dreaming. It is not easy to achieve his goal. He said, there should be perseverance and determination to attain one’s goal.
John graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of the Philippines. He has made a record because his general weighted average was 1.016. He finished high school and college through a scholarship. It was only his grandmother who sent him to school. He came from a poor family. He was not born a genius. One has to be studious, hardworking, and disciplined if he/ she likes to reach his/her dream. He also said that one has to love his/ her work. Poor financial condition should never be a hindrance.
This only proves that poverty and physical disabilities are not hindrances to success. Don’t just dream. Work on your goals. Achieve your goals.
