The food storage center includes:
cupboards,
built-in cabinets,
shelves, and
bins where food are kept.
These are located near the table where food preparation such as:
cutting,
chopping, and
slicing are done.
Sometimes, a table shelf is used for both storage and preparation.
The sink is a popular name for the washing and cleaning center. It is important that a good water supply is provided all the time. The cooking center is the place where the stoves are located.
There are different kinds of stoves such as:
native stove,
gas stove,
electric stove.
Safety Measures in Preparing Meals
Here are some safety measures in preparing and cooking meals in the kitchen:
1. Wear an apron and wash your hands before starting to work. Always maintain
good hygiene.
2. Use a potholder to hold/lift hot utensils. This avoids scalding and also prevents accidents.
3. Use a separate spoon to taste the food. Do not use the ladle or other family
members’ spoon for tasting.
4. Never leave the kitchen while food is being cooked. There is a danger of
overcooking the dish and starting a fire when the kitchen is left unattended.
5. Wash used dishes and utensils while waiting for food to cook. This saves time
and allows you to accomplish more in a given period.
6. Keep cabinet doors closed to prevent accidents and rodents from entering it.
