Richard Floyd

The twin brother of Mark, Richard William Floyd was born at Knutsford on May 30, 1953 and, like his twin, was apprenticed to Robert Read at Lambourn.

Whilst unable to match his brother's achievements, he nonetheless clocked up around fifty winners, the first of which was Jolly Judge at Newton Abbot on September 11, 1971.

His biggest win was Wovoka in the 1975 Yellow Pages Hurdle.

Nicknamed 'Dixie', Richard became a valet after retiring.

Richard died, aged 61, of a heart attack in Bristol Hospital on August 3, 2014.

He never married.
