E. French

Apprenticed to Walter Earl at Stanley House Stables, Newmarket, the rookie jockey had his first mount when partnering Chart Room in an Apprentice Plate at Newmarket on April 19, 1944.

His riding weight was six stone.

French rode Furioso in the 1945 Cesarewitch, but the writing was already on the wall.

His solitary 'win' came in a walkover On Noel Murless's Beacon Bright at Newcastle on June 24, 1947.

Unable to find sufficient rides, French retired at the end of the 1947 season.
