Jonjo Fowle

Jonjo Fowle was born in Ireland on March 25, 1976. He was apprenticed to John Hills at Lambourn and was a successful apprentice during the second half of the 1990s. He rode his first winner on Still Here, trained by Mikey Heaton-Ellis, in a Wolverhampton apprentices’ race on March 15, 1996.

He achieved his biggest victory while still a 7lb claimer, winning the Churchill Handicap at Ascot aboard 20/1 shot Bridie’s Pride, trained by Gerald Ham, on June 20, 1998.

Jonjo registered scores of six wins in 1997, five in both 1998 and 1999 and three in 2000. He eventually quit race riding and became a greyhound trainer back in his native Ireland.
