Peter Farrell

Peter Farrell rode one winner over jumps when the nine-year-old mare Flow, trained at Market Deeping by former National Hunt jockey George Vergette, took the Yorkshire Main Selling Handicap Hurdle at Doncaster on March 10, 1959. The winner was bought in for 200 guineas at the post-race auction.

Prior to their Doncaster victory, Peter had ridden Flow on his three previous starts, finishing unplaced each time at Warwick, Uttoxeter and Birmingham. In fact, they were the only four rides he had during that season.

He rode Flow on her first start of the following season, 1959/60, when unplaced in a Uttoxeter handicap hurdle on October 2, but was then replaced by another of George Vergette’s young claimers, Mick Clark, who rode Flow to win her next start at Huntingdon, retaining the ride thereafter. Peter did not renew his licence the following season.
