Mark Floyd

Mark Edward Floyd - the twin brother of jockey Richard - was born at Knutsford on May 30, 1953 and was apprenticed to Robert Read at Lambourn.

He rode his first winner on Jolly Judge in the Newquay Novices' Hurdle at Devon & Exeter on September 23, 1971.

More successful than Richard, Mark won the 1976 Stones Ginger Wine Chase on Black Andrew and the 1976 Sun Ratings Chase on Menehall.

He had just one ride in the Grand National, Nereo in 1978 (14th).

Mark's best season came in 1978-79 when he rode 34 winners.
