HIV Prevention efforts addressing the complexity of gender will be aided in the future by enhanced HIV surveillance data. HIV data collection ty building for public health staff and data collection staff on transgender issues. Efforts to understand the morbidity of HIV among Nevada’s Transgender community are timely and important for prevention efforts, especially when considering that national studies have shown that between 12% to 28% of transgender persons are HIV positive and more than half of black male to female transgender persons tested positive for the virus (Keatley and Bockting 2008)n and reporting is in the process of incorporating both institutional changes. For example, modifications made to the current counseling and testing forms as of 1/2012 and e-HARS forms that not only identify sex at birth, but also current gender identity, made concurrently with education and capacity
