Community Guidelines

Last Updated: Aug 15, 2014 03:58PM EDT

Our teachers and students – the community – are the pulse of Skillshare. The following Community Guidelines are here to help you understand what it means to be a member of Skillshare, whether you're interacting with each other or members of our team. Use of Skillshare is subject to these Community Guidelines and our Terms of Service.

What To Do

1. Respect Others

There's a real person behind each Skillshare profile or support email. Treat others with generosity of spirit and give them the benefit of the doubt. Be courteous and cooperative – this will lead to collaboration to resolve your issues faster.

2. Respect Copyright

Only upload content onto Skillshare that belongs to you or that you are authorized to use. This means you may not include content in your videos, such as images and music tracks, that you did not create or receive the proper authorization to use.

3. Get Involved

Be active in discussions, ask questions, and get to know your peers. The more you put in, the more you and others will get out of the class.

4. Be Kind

Reviews are meant to help other members improve; they are not a space for rants or spam. If you really enjoyed a class, mention those things the teacher did to make it so great. If you were disappointed by a class, don’t attack the teacher. Instead, list the things you think they could do better next time. Feedback is a gift – don't forget it! Hateful speech will simply not be tolerated.

5. Pursue Lifelong Learning

Our goal is to create a community that allows you to learn anything from anyone. Take advantage of it!

What Not To Do

We believe in second chances - making mistakes is another chance for learning! However, the health and safety of our community will always come first, and stepping across any of the lines listed below may result in warnings, content deletion and eventual account deletion.

1. Don't Rant, Insult, or Threaten Others

Skillshare is not a venue for you to harass, abuse, bully, or intimidate others, especially in community spaces. Valid complaints about conduct will be investigated immediately.

2. Don't Use Public Community Spaces to Discuss Transactions or Feedback

Contact our support folks at help@skillshare.com to dispute or discuss transactions. You can review your class through the Leave a Class Review feature at the end of the class. For all other feedback, please fill out the Contact Us form or email us at help@skillshare.com.

3. Don’t Post Spam or Illegal Content

Illegal or hateful content will not be tolerated. We also reserve the right to remove any deceptive, unwelcome or repetitive content that does not positively contribute to the class or community.

4. Don’t Download or Share Skillshare Content

Skillshare classes are intended only for your personal use and are not to be shared or re-distributed. Don’t download material unless there is a specific “download” option provided by Skillshare.

5. Don't Host Class Materials Outside of Skillshare

Using Skillshare as a proxy to other websites or services is grounds for class or post removal.
