We usedGeneral Assembly Community Development Stategies https://drive.google.com/drive/#search?q=general

Cultural competence is the integration and transformation of knowledge about individuals and groups of people into specific standards, policies, practices, and attitudes used in appropriate cultural settings to increase the quality of services; thereby producing better outcomes.

Principles of cultural competence include:

    1. Define culture broadly.
    2. Value clients’ cultural beliefs.
    3. Recognize complexity in language interpretation.
    4. Facilitate learning between providers and communities.
    5. Involve the community in defining and addressing service needs.
    6. Collaborate with other agencies.
    7. Professionalize staff hiring and training.
    8. Institutionalize cultural competence.

Core Values,Principles and/or Missions

As Zappos’s Hsieh says, “Chase the vision, not the money.” If you create a culture where people love coming to work and are moving in the same direction, you will land where you set your heights. Millions of startups pop up every year. Be among the successful minority who break out in large part because they hold steadfastly to building and sustaining a strong culture.

Burning Man

They were crafted not as a dictate of how people should be and act, but as a reflection of the community's ethos and culture as it had organically developed since the event's inception.

Radical Inclusion

Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.

Gifting

Burning Man is devoted to acts of gift giving. The value of a gift is unconditional. Gifting does not contemplate a return or an exchange for something of equal value.

Decommodification

In order to preserve the spirit of gifting, our community seeks to create social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising. We stand ready to protect our culture from such exploitation. We resist the substitution of consumption for participatory experience.

Radical Self-reliance

Burning Man encourages the individual to discover, exercise and rely on his or her inner resources.

Radical Self-expression

Radical self-expression arises from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine its content. It is offered as a gift to others. In this spirit, the giver should respect the rights and liberties of the recipient.

Communal Effort

Our community values creative cooperation and collaboration. We strive to produce, promote and protect social networks, public spaces, works of art, and methods of communication that support such interaction.

Civic Responsibility

We value civil society. Community members who organize events should assume responsibility for public welfare and endeavor to communicate civic responsibilities to participants. They must also assume responsibility for conducting events in accordance with local, state and federal laws.

Leaving No Trace

Our community respects the environment. We are committed to leaving no physical trace of our activities wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves and endeavor, whenever zunder Larry Harvey wrote the Ten Principles in 2004 as guidelines for the newly-formed

possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them.

Participation

Our community is committed to a radically participatory ethic. We believe that transformative change, whether in the individual or in society, can occur only through the medium of deeply personal participation. We achieve being through doing. Everyone is invited to work. Everyone is invited to play. We make the world real through actions that open the heart.

Immediacy

Immediate experience is, in many ways, the most important touchstone of value in our culture. We seek to overcome barriers that stand between us and a recognition of our inner selves, the reality of those around us, participation in society, and contact with a natural world exceeding human powers. No idea can substitute for this experience.

Downtown Project

1. Execution & Sustainability: We invest in sustainable business models with operators that can execute.

2. Passion: These businesses are owner-operated, hands-on businesses where the entrepreneur harnesses their passion and executes on his or her vision.

3. Collisions: Businesses that provide a space for people to meet and interact in a way that promotes new relationships and stronger ties within the community.

4. Unique or the Best: Downtown Las Vegas is a place to experience new things, and the Small Businesses we invest in differentiate themselves with unique qualities not found in many of their counterparts.

5. Story Worthy: The Small Businesses we invest in have a story all their own, and each of our businesses contributes to an eclectic mix of narratives in the Downtown area.

Founder Passion and Vision Evaluation: We want to understand the story behind your passion and your company vision. What drives you and how that can contribute to our community? We’ll start with a chat, phone call, Skype, or trading of smoke signals with someone from our team. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions about the VegasTech community! Your time is valuable so we don’t want to waste it with more meetings if your company’s focus doesn’t align with our investment goals (it’s not you, it’s us…we’re weird).

Community Evaluation: Our community is built by the people in it. We build community through relationships. We care about your team’s culture and values and the synergies between your team and our community. Want to know how to get funded? Come see Downtown for yourself and meet the people who live, work, and play here. The more people you connect with the more likely you are to get community support. We work from community references. You can choose to do this on your own or reach out to us first. It’s your choice, but there’s no doubt that more things can happen once you’re here and active.

Product/Business Evaluation: This is a chance for our team, partners, friends, and invested companies to learn more about your product and business vision. We all come from a wide range of backgrounds in technology so who you meet with will depend on your startup’s focus. We’ll take a deep dive into your customer, market, business model, and growth strategies. This is a chance to show that you have the best team to solve the problem.

How we spend our days, is how we spend our lives. The truth is, we want to create each day and fill it with valuable things to build ourselves, each other and those we work with. We’ve crafted core values to help us do this. When they’re implemented, acknowledged and used, they propel us toward a better quality of life. Where passion, purpose and skill collide, happiness resides.

Record Setter Principles

RecordSetter was founded on the belief that every person on earth is capable of being the world's best "something". That said, encouraging humanity to push its limits is fraught with challenges. When you participate in the record-breaking community, please keep the following ideals in mind.

1. Honesty and accuracy are pretty much everything.

    • For RecordSetter to succeed, we have to rely on the integrity of mankind. Whether you're setting a record, judging a record or voting on a record, please be as honest and accurate as possible.

2. Don't hurt yourself. Don't hurt others. Don't hurt the planet.

    • RecordSetter exists to bring out the best in people, not harm lives or the environment. If you have the slightest concern about a record you're considering, please contact us first or discuss it with the most responsible person you know.

3. Waste sucks.

    • If you're going to set a record for, say, "World's Largest Banana Cheesecake" or "Largest Collection of V-Neck Sweaters", don't let your creation go to waste. Get a food bank or charitable group involved so you can help out others while achieving your feat.

4. Be respectful.

    • RecordSetter encourages healthy competition, and welcomes open dialogue and debate in all places of conversation, including our Facebook page. That said, we care deeply about our community and reserve the right to delete disruptive, profane, or off-topic comments, and to suspend or permanently ban users who do not adhere to our policies.

5. Be yourself.

    • While not imperative, we encourage users to register accounts as their true, offline selves.

Use of Skillshare is subject to these Community Guidelines and our Terms of Service.

What To Do

1. Respect Others

There's a real person behind each Skillshare profile or support email. Treat others with generosity of spirit and give them the benefit of the doubt. Be courteous and cooperative – this will lead to collaboration to resolve your issues faster.

2. Respect Copyright

Only upload content onto Skillshare that belongs to you or that you are authorized to use. This means you may not include content in your videos, such as images and music tracks, that you did not create or receive the proper authorization to use.

3. Get Involved

Be active in discussions, ask questions, and get to know your peers. The more you put in, the more you and others will get out of the class.

4. Be Kind

Reviews are meant to help other members improve; they are not a space for rants or spam. If you really enjoyed a class, mention those things the teacher did to make it so great. If you were disappointed by a class, don’t attack the teacher. Instead, list the things you think they could do better next time. Feedback is a gift – don't forget it! Hateful speech will simply not be tolerated.

5. Pursue Lifelong Learning

Our goal is to create a community that allows you to learn anything from anyone. Take advantage of it!

What Not To Do

We believe in second chances - making mistakes is another chance for learning! However, the health and safety of our community will always come first, and stepping across any of the lines listed below may result in warnings, content deletion and eventual account deletion.

1. Don't Rant, Insult, or Threaten Others

Skillshare is not a venue for you to harass, abuse, bully, or intimidate others, especially in community spaces. Valid complaints about conduct will be investigated immediately.

2. Don't Use Public Community Spaces to Discuss Transactions or Feedback

Contact our support folks at help@skillshare.com to dispute or discuss transactions. You can review your class through the Leave a Class Review feature at the end of the class. For all other feedback, please fill out the Contact Us form or email us at help@skillshare.com.

3. Don’t Post Spam or Illegal Content

Illegal or hateful content will not be tolerated. We also reserve the right to remove any deceptive, unwelcome or repetitive content that does not positively contribute to the class or community.

4. Don’t Download or Share Skillshare Content

Skillshare classes are intended only for your personal use and are not to be shared or re-distributed. Don’t download material unless there is a specific “download” option provided by Skillshare.

5. Don't Host Class Materials Outside of Skillshare

Using Skillshare as a proxy to other websites or services is grounds for class or post removal
