CULTURE SHOCK ® LAS VEGAS (CSLV) is the most innovative company of today’s pop culture. The company uses hip-hop/street dance to empower young people to stay away from drugs, violence and hatred, and strive for a life-style that embraces acceptance, achievement, and self confidence.

CULTURE SHOCK LAS VEGAS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dance troupe and developed in 1995, under the direction of international fitness expert Darryl Thomas. Its ideology mirrors the original Culture Shock developed in 1993 under the direction of Nike Fitness Trainer, Angie Bunch. Both organizations share the powerful vision to expand the opportunities of those less fortunate than themselves. We share the mission, “dedicated to innovative performance, artist development, and community enrichment, revealing the power and beauty of hip-hop to diverse audiences.”

CULTURE SHOCK LAS VEGAS offers a diverse group of 25 individuals with an opportunity for educational assistance, dance and leadership training. The dancers come to the company through an audition with a range of backgrounds and a wealth of talent. They are all encouraged to create a dance piece that reflects their uniqueness and character. But at the same time, strive to maintain the integrity of hip hop as a distinct form. The company’s intent is to cultivate the hip-hop dance form and teach it with the same dedication and respect commanded by other “classic” dance forms. The company believes that by validating the dance created by kids on the street, you are validating those kids as well.

CULTURE SHOCK LAS VEGAS recognizes its role as a leader of our community and pledges its commitment to the betterment of all people through education, fitness, dance, improving the quality of our local youth, and through forming a strong partnership with our community.
