Ever Again

Ever Again

by Stephanie Rostis

She lost it on her way home, in the back of her father's car. She stared out of the dirt covered window, to the huge evergreens surrounded by large hills of grass. She watched them as they passed by the window, studying each leaf, knowing this would be her last opportunity. She was so upset to be returning home from her summer camp. The panic truly hit when she realized she was never going to get that ride home ever again. She was never going to jump off the creaking deck, in the early morning, with all her friends. She was never going to sleep in that bumpy, old bunk bed, on top of a random girl that would soon become a friend. She would never eat in the hot cafeteria with all the other kids as they screamed happy music and loudly laughed together. She would never be a little kid who got to enjoy her summer ever again. She would never be a kid ever again.
