I’m from places I don’t like to talk about. So I stayed up late and played halo with friends far away.

I’m from hoods and projects and schools like Mae Jemison Elementary where I’m unwanted and not liked.

I’m from dirt roads with saddled-up horses and loving puppies.

I’m from calloused fingertips and steel string guitars.

I’m from bright smiles and big appetites.

I’m from black-and-white TV screens and Nintendo 64’s.
