2019-20

Prologue

For many of us, the past month or so has proven to be a very challenging time, and we’ve all dealt with numerous cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Ramblings wanted to keep up its tradition of publishing a fine arts magazine despite our physical distance from each other. We felt that it’s important to keep as many things running as safely possible so we can still feel connected even considering our unusual circumstances. We would also like to remind you that no matter how difficult things get, we are all in this together and we’ll see the “light at the end of the tunnel” soon. It has been my privilege to work with my team to publish this magazine. I hope it brings you as much joy as you read it that I had editing and publishing all of your works!

Epilogue

When Mr. Littell emailed me about continuing Ramblings during the eLearning period, it seemed to bring the reality of the situation down on me. The go-to-bat-session, the meetings in the computer lab, the Lit Fest trip, all of the staples of this spring that I looked forward to were truly gone. After two years of incredible, joy-filled tradition, my Creative Writing Club traditions were pushed aside, along with everything else.

I wanted to continue this magazine. I had helped make the website for it and had helped edit and judge pieces since my freshman year. I desperately wished to keep this tradition alive and well. This publication fulfilled my wish.

I’m so, so thankful to Mr. Littell for providing the support and resources to continue at home, my incredible fellow members for pitching in and their incredible insights, and for everyone who submitted pieces this year for managing to create and help collect art in the middle of scary, turbulent times. This edition would have been easy to cancel, but it would have been a disservice to everyone who works so hard to produce such great art. I hope that you enjoy this issue of Ramblings, Glenbard East's fine arts magazine, and I hope that this constant can bring you some stability like it has brought for me.
