Silver Rings to Rust

Silver Rings to Rust

Allison Salgado

If you leave me today,

I would yearn for you again.

Leave me today and we’d never get back together

Is what you’d say.

Hope is what we lived off of

Like a dove flying for the first time.

All the long red-faced nights to laughing so hard you can’t breathe

Would all be over, at the drop of a pin.

The flick of a dime.

Heads you stay, tails you..

The what would be awkward silence into

Sweet melodies of the wind.

The warm cozy nights we had together,

Why would you leave that?

Wouldn’t you want more?

Do you remember when that was?

At our wedding four Novembers ago.
