They Don't Want Us To Go On A Voyage

They Don’t Want Us To Go On A Voyage

By Leon Zguri

We know that the mast

Is set to go on an adventure that will last

We are ready

The sailboat is steady

We are prepared to take the first step,

But they pull back our drive, our footsteps

When the desire and the need to explore is great,

They won’t allow us to go on a voyage, they will rate

They tell us we are too young

The maturity bell has not been rung

The ocean is a scary place

It doesn’t matter, we have to stare at adversity’s face

If we want to grow

That’s something they have to know

When the desire and the need to explore is great,

They won’t allow us to go on a voyage, they will not open the gate

They tell us we won’t know what to do

If the giant waves grew

They let us know that the quest is laborious

They think it’s too dangerous

“What if we get stranded”, they say

We don’t think it will happen that way

When the desire and the need to explore is great,

They don’t want us to go on a voyage, they want us to wait

They’re worried about how we will fare

The ocean and the land, they don’t compare

When we want to travel out to see, they want us to have so many solutions

They never think of any resolutions

They want us to follow them unquestionably

A trip on the ocean is almost unmentionable

When the desire and the need to explore is great,

We don’t get permission to go on a voyage, stagnation is something we hate

When the desire and the need to explore is great,

A long voyage out at sea is something they won’t permit

They want to relegate us to a predictable fate
