A Judgmental Society

A Judgemental Society

Genesis Gutierrez

I live in a judgmental society

Where women are expected to act a certain way

Dress a certain way

Speak a certain way

I live in a judgemental society

Where being different can be a crime

Where everyone critiques anyone

No matter how alike they are

Without realizing that with those hurtful words

A serial killer might be in the making

Ready to explode

1… 2… 3…

BOOOM!

I live in a judgmental society where everyone is not treated the same

A place where people aren’t welcomed unless they have proof of citizenship

GO BACK HOME! STOP STEALING OUR JOBS!!!

A place where one has to speak ‘American’

No Spanish, estás en Los Estado Unidos se habla ingles y solo ingles alien! (trans: No spanish, you are in the U.S, speak English and only English you alien!)

I live in a society where it’s hard to love oneself

Without being told the millions of things that are wrong with them

Their appearance

Personality

Sexual orientation

Gender

Race

And ethnicity

I live in a society where it’s hard to find one's true identity

Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?

I live in a bubble away from this judgmental society

Where I hide away from racism, prejudice

Away from evil

Not until this society is transformed to an accepting

Equal

And hospitable place

Will I return.
