Skills in Handling Hybrid Class
It is good that teachers constantly calling the names of children.
Don't just give instructions - demand for response from the children esp. the ones over the ZOOM...
Play a video or song etc. while physical children going to toilet or doing something else.
Teachers can move around the camera area.
Let children what's going on in the physical class.
Train children for response.
Work from Office / School
Not just kindergartens, universities and colleges are greatly affected right now. If school doors continue to be locked, the schools will have to close down, sooner or later. We do not want schools to come to that stage.
Nobel admin staff and management have been going back, not just for the examination but operations of the school as well. Students are to be on lock-down, not the teaching staff nor the rest of the staff. Make sure there are activities going on in the school premises / workplaces. The initiatives that Singapore Airlines has come out with are good example to us, seeing how the company has kept its staff uplifted and moving on.
Do not put fear into ourselves even though this 3rd wave is not so easy to deal with, due to the problems come with the cases. Economics is something the Government has a lot to concern about, they are making sure all the economic activities are still running; as for us, the longer people don't go to work, it is a sign that we do not need so many people to operate. Be informed also, there are more and more people going to lose their jobs e.g. Malindo Air has laid off many of their staff. Do not want our staff to be laid off, welcome them back to office / school to work. Just keep to a safe distancing; office staff all be back to work according to normal working hours.
Wrapping-up of 2020
Carry on with existing arrangement to conduct classes online.
Return the $$$ to parents for Graduation, after minus out the expenses for photo taking, awards, picture frames, may be 1/2 of the $$$.

To run it successfully, we are to understand the needs of our children and the concerns of their parents.
A different batch of teachers, teach in the evening when parents / adults are around to assist.
These teachers must know how to handle and teach using the software.
This can be done as a collaboration of teachers from our affiliated schools.
It can be managed by the supervisory level.
We need to do research and explore the platform (e.g. NearPod) that is good for our setting.
Has different school hours (duration), timetables, activities, contents, teaching materials and classwork.
Understand the uniqueness: no uniform, smaller group, better attention, different way of interaction.
To look into the charges, material packs, textbooks, Chrome books, combined activities with the physical school.

Something Beautiful & Nice
The transition from one period to another is nice, having the teachers to come in first before the other one leaves.
Asking questions, involving almost everyone.
Knows how to speak the child’s language to connect e.g. speak English to a non-Chinese speaking child.
Get children to show, BUT must allow enough time for responses.
Must attend to every child’s response, even if asking him to wait by a hand signal.
The strength of FunGates is we are “step by step”, it should be applied in the ZOOM classroom.
Challenges:
1. Behavior of children over the ZOOM.
Common Problems:
1. Parents / siblings do not know what to guide and what not to guide.
2. Noises from the microphones.
3. Mix language e.g. “sandwich”.
Training of Skills to Teachers
1. The skills get everyone’s attention (attention-getter).
2. To have a brain break before start, esp. after a lesson.
Technical
1. Maximize the things to be shown on screen.
2. The echo in room.
3. Use a special eye-catching cursor.
4. Screen share time cannot see teacher, during the Poh Ling’s class.
Be ware of negative statements:
1. "Everyone’s doing, what are you doing?"
2. "I will ask everyone of you ya..." (in a threatening tone)
Other Things To Note...
1. Wash hands first esp. if the activity is dealing with food.
2. Presentation of things on table, no plastic bags around.
3. Make sure we thank the parents / siblings for helping us over the ZOOM, let them know they are appreciated.
