*Re: Guideline for Eating Out*
As we have transited into the endemic phase for about half a month, I would like to announce that tomorrow onwards, all staff may eat out during your lunch break.
*As a responsible and caring colleague*, please follow the guidelines below:
Limit the frequency of eating out; cultivate or keep to the good habit of packing food from home - healthier and save $$$.
Not to go too far and ended up couldn't come back to work in time.
When the lunchtime you have is limited, do not order food that takes forever to prepare, and be served.
Avoid crowded eating outlets, make sure there is good ventilation.
Put on your mask immediately after eating. Do not chit-chat there without a mask on.
Scan MySejahtera, sanitize your hands, and disinfect yourself when you are back at your workplace.
(Where shall we go for lunch tomorrow?)
Wear a double layer of masks (the outer layer can be a cloth mask, but the inner layer got to be a proper mask) OR a mask with a new design of the full-face shield during distribution.
Do not stand near or have conversations with those who are smoking or eating (or whoever without the mask OR with the mask at the chin).
Make sure all recipients wear their masks covering up to the nose.
No outsiders can enter our van as the van is an enclosed place where viruses can stay in there for hours.
Have the windows winded down (about a quarter) while driving.
Make sure there is good ventilation at all times for...
a) Hospitality Room (Anusuia) - To leave the door open from time to time.
b) Office (Samuel) - To have the windows behind Mr. Samuel's seat open.
c) Preschool (Prema) - To have the windows open after school but if during school hours can leave them open will be the best.
d) NewKidz Hall (Zhi Xin) - To have the roller shutter opens after school hours.
Check-in MySejahtera at the entrance.
Sanitize your hands and take body temperature.
Keep to a safe distancing of 1 meter (3 feet) from one another at all time.
Clean your chairs with disinfectant wet-wipes after use.
On top of your face masks, put on face shields and gloves when handling recipients.
No eating out during lunch break, either bring own food or order online (Grab / Food Panda etc). Spray and disinfect packages outside our premises before bringing the food in.
Avoid close contacts with foreign workers e.g. buying any food / drinks from them.
Wear an plastic apron and sanitize well when handling children.
NEW POLICY!!!
All workers have to scan MySejahtera or record in Visitor Records Book when arriving at work, be it Lot 1, 1A, 3, 5, or Lot 9A.
All workers have to scan MySejahtera or record in Visitor Records Book before entering Love on Wheels House and Soup Kitchen, every time.
Every time, come back from outside (to run errands, do purchasing) to any of these lots, workers are required to scan in again and sanitize yourself.
Face the brutal realities:
Is our Foundation still essential? What services must continue / cut back?
Soup Kitchen will not be operating for the time-being.
All Tutorial Classes to be run by volunteer tutors, no paid tutors, except the existing tutors in our midst.
SuperTouch can open after Chinese New Year.
Love on Wheels Food Packs remain given out two-weeks once.
No recruiting new staff or workers, everyone in the team to work doubly hard in order to cover for one another and get things done.
Cut down on the items in Blessing Bags esp. the items that do not make a big difference (in having it or not).
Follow-up on the contribution due collaboratively and diligently.
- Preschool, SuperTouch & Tutorial Services = The Teachers
- FunGates Schools = Administrative Staff i.e. Anusuia and Lee Na
- Other contributions pledged = Administrative Staff and Accounts Executive
Salary will be cut, when no choice but to be cut.
Elevate purpose to give hope:
"We are the safety net of the community".
Rally our Board of Trustees, management and staff:
Be upfront, honest and transparent - make this difficult journey less painful and more doable, sailing through it together!
Focus on the "Here and Now":
Make sure we have the unrestricted cash to keep the doors open for 6-9months. Be more adaptive, resilient and sustainable!
"Show me the money":
Make sure the relationship with funders (they are our problem solvers not "wallets") is secure and their commitments are still solid.
To appreciate the donors / sponsors through the appreciation plague, frame and card or letter.
Revamp the website and Facebook with a clear strategy.
Map out a bluntly realistic cashflow projection:
Do up the FSF Budget (cash balances & reserves) for 2021 to minimize the negative impacts on Foundation and those we serve.
Do plan - Just focus hard on the next 12-18months:
What else do we need to do to address COVID-19?
Advocate for our Foundation and the people we serve:
What is available (e.g. grants) out there to protect us as an NGO and advance our mission?
Consider restructuring and consolidating:
Rescaling back to the most essential and / or those achieving the best results.
Consolidation of office and work sites, increase virtual operations and outreach, reduce the cost of implementing COVID-19 protections.
Collaborate with other NGOs, e.g. Food Provision, we provide the recipients, premise and manpower. (https://www.sustainedcollab.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/3-NP_Questions-for-Potential-Merger-Partners.pdf)
Seize opportunities from virtual engagement:
Use virtual technologies to our advantage e.g. tele-visits and virtual connections.
Innovate to adapt and respond:
Come up with innovative ways to solve problems in a pinch.
Imagine the unthinkable:
What are our unthinkable(s)? and how well prepared are we if they become our reality?
To keep our Foundation a safe place to work, please find below the steps of how we will handle the staff who are the close contacts of COVID-19 diagnosed.
1. "Report yourself" to HR Manager. Remember, telling the truth means you love the rest of us and our families.
2. Take a COVID-19 test. The HR Manager will guide you esp. about the cost.
3. Self-quarantine.
4. Keep the Foundation informed about the results.
5. Resume to work when you're confirmed negative or recovered.
Dear all, this is important to tell you now... There are a few things we would like to implement to enhance the safety of our workplace with immediate effect.
1. To sanitize the toilet before / after use.
We will keep a spray bottle of disinfectant in each toilet, please sanitize esp. the toilet bowl before / after each use.
*Yue Shan, kindly advise us on the right chemical to use.
*Zhi Xin, kindly pass the spare spray bottles to Koon Wu.
*Koon Wu, kindly fill up the bottles and place them in each toilet, make sure they are labelled correctly.
Lot 9A X2, Lot 5 X2, Lot 3 X2, Lot 1 X2, Lot 1A X2, LOW House X1
2. To sanitize the door knobs / handles and handrails, 3 times in a day.
Koon Wu and Kala will assist us in keeping these common area sanitized from time to time, using the same spray bottle.
*Yin Hui, kindly inform Koon Wu & Kala about the help needed and set a time for them to do so.
3. To disinfect the van after each use.
Paul to make sure our vans are sprayed thoroughly with the disinfectant spray in the basket, which is kept in the van.
4. "Jawatankuasa Protokol Tindak Balas Kecemasan" (The Committee of Emergency Response Protocol)
We are required to form a committee to prepare and implement the steps to handle emergency cases during this time.
The appointed committee members are Samuel, Tracy, Yue Shan, Yin Hui and Prema.
We have found out from the Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat, Putrajaya (to be exact, Cik Mariana of Yayasan Kebajikan Negara) that all "perkhidmatan masyarakat" are allowed to operate as usual during MCO and Auntie Clarine has given the green light also, to go ahead on direction we know is best and safe.
PRESCHOOL SERVICES
Since the Preschool is allowed to open, we carry on with the preparation to open on 20th. Meaning teachers still come back for their setup of school etc.
SOCIAL WELFARE SERVICES
Meanwhile, as Auntie Clarine's advice, during this time, we give out only Blessing Bags, but we deliver to them from our van.
*All staff still come to work in office. Follow SOP strictly. We have packing to do, if can would like to clear Joy In A Toy Showroom and help in school opening.
This is my personal experience of what my family and I went through. It may differ to yours but any information is better than not receiving any.
What happens when you find out you’re positive? Depending on where you swabbed your test (private or public) they will send your results to the nearest PKDs from their centres. If they don’t, you contact your nearest Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah (PKD) to tell them your info.
*PKDs handle covid cases under KKM. PKDs according to your districts are the ones who arrange for your close contacts swab tests, quarantine tags and letters, & ambulance pick up.
Either way, you’re meant to wait for PKD to call you for your next steps. If they don’t call you:
Start writing down everyone you’ve met from the last 10 - 14 days.
Share your contact tracing list. They will ask if you went out and to provide name, number and date of whoever you were with the last 10-14 days.
Call your close contacts so they can start to quarantine themselves, get tested and anticipate a call from PKD.
PKD should call you soon to arrange for your close contacts (Category B) first swab test, pink wristbands & quarantine letter (for documentation) if they don’t call you, just get your Category B’s to do their swab tests at private. It’s costly but at this time, PKD will take a long time before they contact you. I’ll link some places for your ease:
https://my.asiatatler.com/life/where-to-get-a-covid-19-swab-test-in-kuala-lumpur-petaling-jaya
I would also suggest BP Healthcare (this link is to Glenmarie):
https://shop.doctor2u.my/covid19/drive-thru
Pack your bags, an ambulance is coming to pick you up soon. How to know an ambulance is coming? They’ll call you to confirm your address and give a time frame of your pick up. Your next call is the ambulance driver to say they are xx mins away.
What to pack? You don’t know where you’ll be until they have picked you up. Depending on your situation, it would be either the hospital or quarantine centre. Either way, here’s a list that my sister made:
Things to bring (a guide):
1. Toiletries 🧴
2. Towel
3. Indoor / bathroom slippers
4. [for Muslims] Sejadah (& telekung too)
5. Sweater / jacket, socks - it's been gloomy at night
6. Mug, teaspoon, coffee, tea, fork & spoon
7. Vitamins (especially Vit C)
8. Eucalyptus / Dettol spray & hand sanitiser
9. Dettol wipes
10. Toilet paper (3-5 rolls)
11. Water bottle - that can fill in hot water too
12. Undergarment
13. Clothes to wear for discharge
14. Plastic bag to place clothes worn when admitted
15. Kain batik / blanket - that can be your bedsheet / blanket
16. A small pillow
17. Biscuits / chocolates / snacks / hot cups
18. Extra clothes just in case no clothes given / do not fit
19. Charger & earphones
20. Books for reading
When you’re in the hospital / QC, you won’t be swabbed till you’re negative. Only if you have symptoms, they will check your blood everyday to see how infectious you are. Technically, the virus stays inside you for 3 months meaning you’re immune to it for that long. However the first 10-14 days are the most infectious. The hospital / QC will discharge you once you’ve completed your 10-14 days or once you’re no longer infectious.
Your quarantine starts the day you started developing symptoms or the day of your swab test (if you’re asymptomatic).
Just found out you’re a close contact to someone positive?
You have to quarantine from the day you last met Category A and take two swabs tests.
Get your first swab test done. If you can pay for private, go get swabbed immediately. If you’re unable to, stay home and wait for KKM to call you. If you’re living with other people, stay in your room. If you can’t for whatever reason isolate in a room, wear a mask and get the people who live with you to wear a mask too. Distance yourself, don’t share cutleries / food. Wash your hands and Dettol spray everywhere you go.
Tell your close contacts (Category C) your situation and get them to quarantine too. Only if you (Cat B) are negative, they (Cat C) can go out. If you’re positive, they become Cat B, SO THEY HAVE TO QUARANTINE TILL YOUR RESULTS ARE OUT OK.
If you are negative on first swab, continue to quarantine. KKM will call you for your second swab test. If you’ve gone to KKM for first swab, you’ll have your tags already on. For me, we did first swab private, second swab KKM so we got our pink tags then.
Please monitor your symptoms. If anything arises between first and second swab, call your PKD to inform them. Especially if it’s difficulty breathing.
Only if you have swabbed negative twice and have completed the quarantine dates, you can go cut your tag off at KKM. They’ll do a blood prick test to see if you’re infectious just in case before they cut your tags.
If you’re positive, you become Cat A and your Cat C is Cat B.
If you know a Category B
Stay home and quarantine till Cat B is negative. If possible, wait till Cat B is negative on second swab. Second swab positives ARE a thing, FYI.
Tell your close contacts (Category D) of your situation and get them to be on standby.
If you can, do a swab test too but best to wait as they are expensive and there are limited test kits.
If you know a Category C
You’re able to continue your life in society but adhere to SOPs, distance yourself, wear a mask and try not to go out as much till Category C is in the clear.
Open all the windows to air out your house regularly.
When arranging for delivery to Category A at hospital or quarantine centres, please follow the timings given closely. Different places have different rules. Follow accordingly to avoid your rider having to wait a long time.
If you would like to sanitise / disinfect your house, the people would do it after second swabs to avoid having to do the job multiple times.
Once you or your family is out of quarantine centre / hospital, practice SOPs even at home. If you're visiting people, wear a mask, practice physical distancing and wash your hands. Shower once you've reached home.
If you are neither categories, offer your help to those in quarantine. It's greatly appreciated.
