Røde portable podcasting apps

Røde audio products are perfect for on the go podcasting and audio recording, with free mobile apps that work seamlessly with their line of audio gear. Available camera kits located in Groundworks at the North Campus Tech Checkout use Røde Wireless Go II mics. The Podcasting Station located in Multimedia Workroom 1 uses the RødeCaster Pro II. All in all, their products do a great job for simple audio prodution. Here are a couple of products Røde has made available for portable, mobile production.

Røde Reporter

This free app is very easy to get up and running with audio recording on your mobile device. It uses either the internal mic on your phone, or any conencted microphone you have connected to your phone. If used with the Røde Wireless Go II, the app will capture 2 separate audio channels for independent control of the two channels. The app captures either 48kHz 24-bit WAVE files or 48kHz 256kbps MP3 files.

Røde Capture

This is really exciting. Røde Capture takes advantage of BOTH front and back cameras, SIMELTANEOUSLY. Position your mobile between you and an interviewee, and get a split-screen (or 2 separate video files) interview saved directly to your phone. Again, using the Wireless Go II microphone will capture 2 separate audio channels for more precise audio editing after the fact.

Rødecaster Pro II

Located in Multimedia Workroom 1 is our Rødecaster Pro II Podcasting Station. Though not a portable app, it's a nice reminder letting you know we have these free resources available in the Duderstadt Center to any active member of the University community. Access to this resource is available by completing the "Groundworks - Virtual Orientation" in CANVAS.
