The Recording Booth in Groundworks is one of the best places on campus to record yourself. This sound isolation booth is equipped with a camera, microphone, and the ability to capture the desktop of the computer. The Recording Booth is a terrific place to create a presentation, narrate a voiceover for your movie, and record your music.

Complete this online cavas orientation and complete the forms to gain 24 reservation access to the Recording Booth.
You must complete the "Groundworks - Virtual Orientation" in order to get access to the Recording Booth. Upon completion, you will have the ability to reserve the Recording Booth, as well as, the Multimedia Workrooms, whenever the Duderstadt Center is open.
The Motu audio interface by M2 is a powerful addition to the room. This allows you to monitor your audio through headphones as well as control the sound being recorded by the computer. This instructional video shows how the Motu audio interface is set up, and how it works in the room.

The backdrop of the Recording Booth was painted with Black 3.0. Unfortunately, the paint didn't cure properly, so it's a little blotchy. Here's how to correct the color in the bacground of your recorded project in the Recording Booth.
Does the audio and video look out of sync after recording in the Recording Booth? depending on whether you are using "Center Stage" in the booth, so the camera will frame and follow you around teh booth, you might notice that the audio can be a little out of sync. If you notice this occurring, this instructional video will show you how to correct your sync issues.
Cannot login from inside the booth: (fig. 1)
You may have to login from the display located outside the room
Select Command + F1 to mirror displays
Click on the Control Panel button in the tool bar, and select "Screen Mirroring."
Display within booth is flashing
[Winter '25] We are looking into why this is occurring, unfortunately, a restart of the computer is all that seems to fix the issue currently.
M2 audio interface not on or recognized
Unplug USB-c cable for 20 seconds and reattach
Make sure power button is in the "on" position (fig. 2).
No audio from speakers outside of booth (fig 3):
The M2 should be BOTH the audio input and output in any application you are using in the Recording Booth.
Make sure "headphone volume" is turned up on the M2 interface INSIDE the booth (audio originates from here and feed speakers outside the booth)
