iTunes is updating to split up into three dedicated apps — Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts — each optimized for consuming their media content on your Mac. Everything in the iTunes library is still accessible in each app, with iCloud accounts seamlessly syncing everything across devices — or users can back up, restore, and sync by connecting their device directly to their home Mac. iTunes was designed as a media player, media library, Internet radio broadcaster, mobile device management utility, and the client app for the iTunes Store, developed by Apple Inc. Uses include purchasing, playing, downloading, and organizing digital multimedia, on personal computers running the macOS and Windows operating systems, and for ripping songs from CDs, as well as playing content with the use of dynamic, smart playlists. Options for sound optimizations exist, as well as ways to wirelessly share the iTunes library. Tracks in your library and purchased through the iTunes are permanent purchases, not contingent on any subscription. Learn more about iTunes on Apple's website.
