Embroidery Machine

Design Lab 1 has a Brother SE-2000 combination sewing and embroidery machine. 

A list of our supplies that come with the embroidery machine: 

• Sewing Arm

• Embroidery Arm

• Brotheread Machine Embroidery Thread

• Tear-away stabilizer sheets

• Pre-Wound Bobbins

• Machine Embroidery Hoops (usable hoops listed below)

  • 1.5" x 2" hoop

  • 4" x 4" hoop

  • 5" x 7" hoop (two of them)

• Power Cord

To use the embroidery machine, it is recommended to take the embroidery machine training module on the Design Lab Canvas page or attend an in-person workshop. 

You can reserve time on the embroidery machine by sending a reservation request to designlabsinfo@umich.edu . If the request is accepted you will get a google calendar invitation for the time of your choice, be sure to show this invitation to the fellow on duty when you show up for your appointment.

The embroidery machine is available for reservations between 12pm-9pm Mondays through Fridays. The embroidery machine is not available for use after open hours or on weekends.

  • If you're planning on bringing your own designs to be made on the machine on a thumb drive, please check your model against this list of compatible drives. In general, you may want to look for drives with a storage capacity of less than 64 GB.
