BigRep Specifications
BigRep STUDIO G2 3D Printer
The BigRep operates with the same ease as a typical desktop 3D printer but offers 10 times the build volume. Based on Cura, the BigRep control software ‘Blade’ is easy to master for experienced users of the Ultimaker series 3D printers. BigRep offers many materials that have been specially formulated for best results such as flexible TPU, biodegradable PLX, and high strength PET-CF. If you have a need for specific BigRep material that we don’t have in stock, we will work with you to find a solution
Understanding the Technology
The BigRep is a large format dual print head continuous filament based 3D printer. The dual heads allow for printing in 2 materials, 2 colors, or model and water soluble support. The machine selectively applies thermoplastics in consecutive cross sectional via two 0.6 mm nozzles which can lead to long print times. Typical layer resolution is between giving parts with curved surfaces along the z-access a strong stepping effect. Low layer resolutions of 0.3 mm to 0.4mm creates a stair stepping effect on vertically oriented curved surfaces so if perfection is your goal you will need to spend some time filling, sanding, and painting the part for a flawless surface.
BigRep Specifications
The BigRep is best suited for large objects or printing of multiple objects in a single build. It is not ideal for parts that require extremely tight tolerances, parts that require high feature detail, smooth surfaces, moving mechanisms, or parts with walls thinner than 2 mm thick.
