What to do and when
What is performance management at Travelodge?
At Travelodge, we focus on 'enabling high performance'. We do that by giving our managers the tools to have 3 brilliant conversations with their team and by giving our colleagues the support to perform at their brilliant best.
At mid year and end of year, we ask that managers complete a formal review with their direct reports (AOM, HM, AHM) that involves 3 brilliant conversations:
A conversation about wellbeing, so our colleagues feel supported and valued.
A conversation about performance and behaviours, so our colleagues are clear on expectations.
A conversation about career progression, so our colleagues are continuously growing personally and professsionally.
As wellbeing is personal, we don't document these conversations as everyone has different things they might want to talk about. We just ask that our managers read the guide and ask the questions on a regular basis, either at the formal reviews or at another time that is more appropriate.
The performance and behaviour review should use the documents in the 'Reviews - what to use' section. The Travelodge Hotel Operations behaviour framework can be used for the 2023 end of year reviews.
As career progression is personal as well, we don't mandate that colleagues complete a generic PDP form. In April we will be launching a new PDP site that all Hotel Managers will be able to use to write personal and career goals. This will include the ability to write 'journal' style articles to reflect on progress.
2024: What needs to be completed by when
Line Managers
Book 2024 End of Year review meetings to be completed between January 1st and February 15th 2024.
Use the 2024 Review Form to complete these reviews.
All reviews and forms to be completed with agreed performance ratings by 15th February 2024.
Submit final performance ratings to your Regional Director by 16th February 2025.
Individuals
As Connect has replaced Fourth, you will now be able to upload your own performance and behaviour review forms to Connect.
Please upload your 2024 End of Year Review document to Connect by the end of February 2024.
To do this, go to:
My Details > Files > Employee HR Documents. Under 'Add New' enter the filename, making sure you follow the format: 2024 End of Year Review First name Last Name'. Then click 'Upload and Submit'.
