Artist statement:
I did not have many ideas for this project. i first wanted to do something that involved cutting into a book, or soemthing that stacked flat paper to make something 3D. I then had the idea to do something with paper mache, so ilooked through a few things i could do. One example i saw was a flower that I thought looked really cool, butI settled on a bird becasue i thought the shape would not be too hard to replicate. I then had to decide how i would do the paper mache, and i eventually decided to do glue and water.
This project took a lot of materials and steps. First i made a rough outline with crumbled paper and tape. I then went over this outline with paper mache strips dipped in a mix of glue and water. I then let it dry and had to use cut up pieces of paper with a hot glue gun to make the feathers. I had a lso used a book for the paper for paper mache and the feathers.
My process started with an idea, then I went into making a rough outline of a bird. I then went over this with paper mache. A few days later I then cleaned up the design and added feathers with cut up paper and a hot glue gun. I then needed a base for the bird so i glued it onto the book I had cut up.
