Artist statement:

I had a lot of ideas for this project, starting off with wanting to make a bunch of cut outs of little people and then make them running in a circle. I started this but was not a fan so I switched gears. I decided to make something with string becasue I love sewing and thought it would be a easier for me to make. I then had to decide what to make that fit the word I picked, Emotional. I decided to make a heart, but was not sure whether to make a real heart or a fake heart. I then decided on a real heart, but i wanted the tubes to look coolers so I added string spraying out.

I decided to use string, but the paper was mandatory. the point of this project was to make something out of paper, something we use everyday. This was hard for me to come up with an idea becasue paper can do so many things, but I decided to sew it. I also used hot glue in order to keep some of the string on the sculpture.

The process started with me picking a word to make a picture of that described the first semester of school. I went through a few, but settled on emotional. i then had to make something, and i jumped through a few ideas. I wanted to make something with a bunch of cut outs, but it was not working so I changed gears. I then made a cutout of a heart and sewed them together. before I seeled it i filled it with crumbled paper to make it more 3D. I then sealed it up and made the ends of the tubes look like string was spraying out.
